Keeping Meat. Southern Cultivator. I learn from reading the last issue of your paper that J. 0. C. of Salley, S. C., desires to know t how to keep meat lr<>m getting strong and a remedy for keeping skippers and bugs out of it and bow ^to keep hams through summers. I will give my way and will guarantee it. When you taKe it up to hang it up wash it ofF with warm water, then whiten the flesh paits with pulverized borax and rub it in bk6 salt, then make it black with black pepper and rub again like salt, hang it up and siiw>ke it with green hickory or young green ash wood occasionally, until the last of March or the first, of April. You can let it hang all the year and I will guarantee you will have the best meat you ever ate, and no bugs or skippeie will come to it. Hams likewise, then my wite makes sacks and sews the hams up in them and hangs them up as other meat. Try this plan and you will al ways nave good meat. W. F. Y. Sellers, Ala. f .
