Desiring to make an example of the seller of the poi son, Magistrate Fowles assured the mother of the child that lie would have a warrant for the seller taken out but on looking up 11 the law more cl<Jsely lie discover^ ed that it was impossible to reach the case, so tar as he could ?scertain. He referred the ques tiou to the Attorney General. After an exhaustive search of the statutes, Assistant Attorney General DeBruhl stated today that he had been unable to find any law covering the case in point. There are statutes regulating the sale of certain poisons by druggists and stipulating that poisons must be labelled as such, but there is no statute to cover the case of a merchant, not a druggist who sells such a drug as laudanumThere is nothing to prevent a druggist or any one else from sellintr a poison to a minor and the principal safeguard in selling p >isons, as so far as the law is concerned, is that a record must be kept of such sales by druggists and the poisons marked 'poison."
