Teacher.
Miss Kloise Foster, who for
a number of years has been one
of the Lancaster Graded school's
most faithful and efficient teach
ers, has resigned to accept a
similar position in the Abbe
villo school. Miss Foster is unquestionably
one of the best
primary teachers in the State
and it is with much regret that
Lancaster gives her up.
The vacancy in the corps of
teachers caused by Miss Foster's
resignation will be tilled by the
board in a day or two.
Spaniard Drowned in the
Catawba River.
Fort Mill s; ecial in yesterday's
Observer: Joseph Vaca, a Spaniard
working at the Charlotte
Brick Company's plant, was
drowned in I lie Catawba river
tliere today. He was sitting on a
limb over the water fishing, when
the limb broke and precipitated
him into the water. He was unable
to swim. Four Germans
were near in a boat and tried to
rescue him, but his body has not
yfceen recovered yet.

the stand that if the city council
will allow the cotton exchang- i

in Rock Hill he has no
right to fine this unfortunate
who had about 15 cents and was
absolutely devoid of intelligence, 1

the city council next Monday
night for trial. Jones agreed to

Severe Storm in the Harrison
Neighborhood.

severe wind and hailstorm swept ,
over the Harrison neighborhood
last, Wednesday afternoon, doing

lightning and set on lire, but
the blaze was put out beloro it

However, no one was hurt. The
bolt ran down the chimney J
and broke up several pictures ;

dining room, it splintered one of \
