lobbying the Senate to defeat the
anti bucket shop bill passed by

Fraser, Richards, Banks, Haskell,

frequent Dispensary conferences.

much better than the present

The anti-dispenearites will
more than likely take up the
Morgan bill. This is a local option
measure, if it passeR we
will have high license, dispensary
or prohibition. The bill provides
for $3,000 license, and all liquor
to be sold under dispensary re
strictions.
Mr. Dobbs of Sumter is after
Glemson College, and he has introduced
a bill to establish an
Agricultural College. There is
some criticism about the large
amount of money used by Clemson.
Glemson spent over $240,000
last year. I think this far
too much money, all things considered.
Mr. Nash of Snarf-anburc has
a bill to provide lor a Bank Ex
aminer.
W? now have over eight hundred
bills before us for consider
ation.
Now and then one hears state
politics discussed. The chiet
interest is centered in the Governor's
race. Sneaker Smith is
far in I he lead in the Legislature.
However, Senator Manning in

Auditor's Notice.
Notice is hereby given that this
otttce wilt be open from the 1st day of
January to the 20th day of February,
1006, for the purpose of receiving the
returns of the taxpayers of Lancaster
County.
All real estate with improvements
thereon, and all personal property of
every description, must be returned
at its true value in money, and all
persons having such property in their
possession or control as manager,
holder, or as husband, parent, guardian,
trustee, executor, administrator,
receiver, accounting officer, agent, attorney
or factor, on the 1st day of
January, 1906, are required to list the
same for taxation within ttie time required
by law, or incur the penalty
of 50 per cent, which attaches in case
of failure to do so.
The poll tax of One Dollar is laid
upon all male persons between the
ages of 21 and 60 years, except persons
who are exempt by law.
The Auditor or an assistant will attend
the following places in the
county on the days named below for
the convenience of the public:

All returns must be made in regular
form and it is preferable that they
be made by the proper owner in person
on blanks provided for the purpose.
The returns must be duly sworn
to before some ollicer qualified to administer
an oath.
All items of realty, whether farms
or town lots, must be listed separately,
and no return which says, "same
as ia-d year," or "no changes," will be
accepted.
After I he above dates I will be
found in the Auditor's office to wait
