AN ORGANIZATION OF BUSINESS
MEN SUGGESTED.
Lancaster needs a board 01
trade, chamber of commerce or
snmp Riirh nrontiizuHnn of itu
business men. As it is now, if
one happens to have a good siig
gestion for the advancement of
the town's interests, there is no
organized body to which lie might
submit his ideas and plans, with
the view ot haying them taken
up and put into execution. It is
true we have a town council, but
thtTe are many matters calculat
ed to benefit the town which do
not.come within the province ol
the municipal authorities.
The business men of the com?munitv
need an organization primarily
for their own protection

do as individuals. It, lor example,
discriminating freight
rates or railroad schedules should
be imposed upon Lancaster, the
matter cculd be taken up by tin
town's business organization,
and upon a proper showing made
before the railroad authorities oi

have the rates reduced or sched

appeals or complaints would

officer nowadays discuss matters 1
of great moment to the people
with entire freedom and candor,
unhesitatingly giving his own 1

As was to be expected, the '
