M. Crawford, who, as pre viously noted in these columns, has been sick for some time. Dr. Pryor found Dr. Crawford very much better and thinks that he will soon be all right again. He has had pleurisy. ?Dr. Boldridge will preach at Camp Creek church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mr. R. M. Jones of Jones X Roads, has accepted a position as salesman with Mr. John Edwards. ?Rev. \V. A. Beckham and fam'ly moved this week from Williamston to Lancaster. McCardell recei ved a telegram from Charlotte Thursday night, stating that her brother, Mr. John Vanlanding ham, an account of whose injury is published elsewhere, is not seriously hurt. ?Mr. R. E. Mcllwain and family moved back from Char lotte to Lancaster yesterday. They occupy the NebraskaMoore cottage in West End. Their many Lancaster friends cordially welcome their return. Death of Mr. Dock Snipes. Mr. Dock Snipes, a well known citizen of the mill community, died yesterday morning about 2 o'clock, of dropsy,, lie was a son of the late John Snipes and was *54 years old. Mr. Snipes was twice married. His firsl wile was a Miss Usher, and his 8econd a Miss Taylor. The latter survives him. He also leaves lour children by his first mar ri?ge, two sous and two daugh ters. The burial takes place to day at Hopewell. Cane of Smallpox In Colored School. A case of smallpox developed here Thursday in the colored school, the Normal and Industrial Institute. The patient is one of the boarding pupils occupying the dormitory. The exercises of the school have been suspended and the building quarantined, by order of the board of health. Fred I* oaf/ Married. The friends and acquaintances of Mr. Fred C. Poag wili be greatly surprised to learn of his marriage, which occurred last Sunday in Newburg, New York. He was married to Miss Catherine Marshall, of Newburg. As is well known, Mr. Poag is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
