Today he will visit Jackson-j ville, Fla. The Library Association. Officers Recently Elected? The Good Work the Association is Doing in Lancaster. At the semi annual me-tina c, of the Lancaster Library Association, held 2nd Thursday in this month, tho following officers were elected : President, .Judge Ira B. Jones; Vico presidents, Col. A. R. Banks, Miss Annie Witherspoon, Mrs. W. McD. Brown ; Treasurer. Mrs. Ira B. Jones; Secretary, W. P. Robinson ; Executive committee, Rev. Paul A. Pressley, R. E. Wylie, Mrs. A. R. Banks, Mrs. W. Mel). Brown, Mrs. I.*a B. Jones. A called meeting of the Associ ation will be held next Friday evening, Oct. 27th, at 7.30 o'clock. While the membership of the Association is large, and is gradually increasing, it is not as large as it should be, when you consider the size of the community and the advantages to be cferived from connection with an organization of this kind. The Association, in a quiet way, of course, is doing a fine work in Lancaster. Aside from itsadvantages of social intercourse, it is not only cultivating a taste for good, wholesome literature, but it is placing that class of reading within the reach of many who would not otherwise be able to enjoy the same. The Association now has hand somely furnished rooms above the Heath Jones Co's store and its bookcases contain several hundred valuable volumes. Organize. At a meeting here a few days ago of druggists in Lancaster county a county association was organized by the election of the following officers : Dr. W. P. Crawford, of Lan * n i uas^ur, irresident; Dr. Hayes, of Kershaw, Vice Pre-ident; Dr. Eugene Funderburli, of Lancaster. Secretary and Treasurer. The town authorities seized three packages of liquor ?t the Express office Thursday, which they suspected wa? shipped here for blind tigor purposes. The seizure amounted altogether to ten gallons.
