According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. will be moving away from its current dependence on oil and natural gas, but will still be a long way from dependence on renewable resources. To meet the targets of energy conservation and increased efficiency, the government will emphasize conserving energy mostly through higher prices, but also through fuel efficiency standards in automobiles, buildings and equipment, and through economic incentives such as tax credits.
