It has a lot to do with ott words that are more familiar to most us: inflation, jobs, profit, liberty, a security. But what is productivity? It illustrated well in this photo. The hands David English of the Spinning Depa ment at Lydia are a blur of movement he rapidly works this spinning fran David's speed-his muscular coordinate is a part of what productivity is all abo So are his concentration and his ability keep track of all the spinning frames in section, knowing when each needs d fing his intelligence and mental attitud One can increase productivity physically working harder or faster. It c be increased by thinking things out a making good decisions. One of t simplest and most dramatic ways increase it is through suggestions better ways of doing things. One other very important part productivity in this photo is the machine itself. Anything that enables you to ti out more work within the same til period an improved machine, a betl plant layout-improves productivity. The steady increase in the stands of living in America over the last t centuries can be linked to increases in t productivity of its people.
