Controller, has been promoted to the
newly created position of Director of
Corporate Planning and Development,
) effective August 1, according to an announcement
by Clinton Mills President
Robert M. Vance.
In addition, Vance said that George
Thaddeus "Thad" Williams will succeed
Sigman as Controller. Williams is
currently associated with the Columbia
law firm of Robinson, McFadden,
Moore & Pope.
In his new capacity, Sigman will be
responsible for advising and assisting
President Vance in the long-range
^ planning and development of the continuing
internal growth and external
expansion of the 76 year old local textile
firm by analyzing financial opera
tions and expansion opportunities and
directing forward planning activities
for acquisitions and mergers.
Sigman holds a B.S. Degree in Business
Administration from the University
of South Carolina and is a Certified
Public Accountant. He was a Staff

effective Monday, July 17, according

Thomas E. "Ted" Davenport, former
Clinton Plant No. 2 Spinning Overseer,
assumed the Lydia Plant Manager's
position which was formerly held by
Swetcnburg.

Walt Sigman
Williams, a Columbia, S. C. native,
received a B.S. Degree in Business
Administration in 1961 from the Uni
versity of South Carolina and a Bachelor
of Law Degree in 1965. In 1967 he
was awarded his Master of Law in
Taxation from New York University.
He is married to the former Mildred

Davenport, who joined Clinton Mills
in 1962, holds a Mechanical Engineering
Degree from Clemson University.
He is currently serving as President of
the Clinton YMCA.
George received his B. S. Degree in
Textile Management from Clemson in
1965. He joined Clinton Mills in 1968
following two years military service
George serves as a Deacon in the
First Presbyterian Church, Laurens.
