APRIL, 1964 WEAVING NO. 1 2ND SHIFT By ? Syble McCall Hello Everybody, Our news is very short this month. It looks as if everyone is keeping their news to themselves, but Mr. Alexander has some good news. His daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Capt. David Smart, were home for a visit last week and Mr. Alexander had a vocation while they were here. He had a good rest I'm sure. We all are glad to have him back. M V \| Debbie McCall is not particular where she rides when hitchhiking. On April 29 she celebrated her first birthday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe McCall. We want to welcome some new employees to the second shift. They are Ina McCarson, Delphia Jennings. Robert Crain and Thomas Faulkner. Mr. Hughes' mother passed away this past week. Mrs. Ruth Oxner visited Mrs. Tillman Tublin in Greenville recently. Mrs. Joe Proffitt and son were recent shoppers in Greenwood. We welcome Billy Lanier, Steve Allman and Mr. Sullivan to the first shift. We extend our deepest sympathy to Mr. J. II. Hughes and family at the death of their mother, Mrs A. H. Mr. Wade Beckham, Sr., visited Mr. William Ballard at Santee and also Mr. and Mrs. Ben Heatherly in Orangeburg during a recent week end. Mr. and Mrs John McDowell and baby of Greenwood were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Robinson. The family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dave Sanders enjoyed a family reunion Sunday, April 12. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Barker. There were 45 present. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Waldrep and children of Spartanburg, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Putnam of Woodruff and Mrs. A. David Earl Gregory is the bright eyed grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kennedy. THE CLOTHMAKER Belvia Meadors and children of Joanna. We miss Clarence Brookshire who left us to take a job at Whitten Village but we hope he'll enjoy his work down there and we welcome Bobby Quinn who has come up from the third shift to fill the vacancy. We're all glad to welcome Terry Campbell back on his job after a long illness, and hope that his recovery is com plete. We extend deepest sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler and family in the loss of his father and to the Herbert Hughes family in the recent loss of his mother. May God bless and comfort as only He can do. We extend a welcome to Ruth Thornton and Ray Patterson who come to us from the second shift. Dot Lanford was honored Sunday. April 12. with a surprise birthday dinner at her home by her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kennedy visited Mr. and Mrs. David Gregory in Spartanburg recently. James Harris is doing a bit of bragging about a newgrandson (and it's something to brag about, all new- grandsons don't weight 9 pounds at birth!) Anthony Todd was born April 11 in Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood to Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson. Mrs. Wilson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harris. Buck Wilson spent several days this past month in Bailey Memorial Hospital, but is doing fine now and doing job training in C o n w a y. Arkansas. He will be there for six weeks. Gladys Ginn and her children, Sammy and Debbie, have had the measles. Trudy Workman has also had the measles. Ann King celebrated her birthday April 5 with a party at her home. Kathy Garrett has been very ill. The people in this department are staying at home a lot these days and doing nothing or else they just re fuse to tell me about it 1 believe most of us are just getting old and lazy.
