JANUARY, 1963 WEAVING No. I 2nd Shift By Beatrice Hawks Well here it is almost the last of January 196J and it seems just a few days ago that everyone was busy getting ready for the Christmas holidays. We wish to take this opportunity to thank our employer for our holidays and weeks pay and the nice box of fruit they gave us. We also want to wish everyone a happy new year. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cook attended the Palmer family Christmas dinner in Greenwood. The family was so large they had their dinner at the Community House and reported a wonderful time. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cook were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Led ford in Greenville this past Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Law son and family spent Christmas eve in Greenwood with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. George Brown. Mrs. Loree Lawson's sister, Mrs. Ben Willard, and family of Sumter spent Christmas day with her. Mrs. B. L. Gray and Mr. and Mrs. Jammie Brewer held their annual Christmas party Christmas eve day. Christine says they all had a wonderful time. Mr. John Med lock of Liberty, S. C. spent Christmas with his daughter and family. Mr. ana Mrs. Knlph Alexander. Claude Birchmore, brother of Rubv Birchmore, is leaving for the Army January 15. Ernest McCall, brother of Sammy McCall. left for the Air Force January 2. J. C. Eldridge and wife visited J. C.'s mother in Bushnell. Florida Christmas week. Ann Vaughn of Charleston spent Christmas with her father, Ernest Vaughn, Mrs. Susie Hawks and Beatrice. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Vaughn of Charleston and O Rickey is the handsome son of Mr. and Mrs. William Grant. He celebrated his second birthday December 17. 1^ ? ^ TJ ^ y' Mr. and Mrs. Howard Vaughn and son of Aiken visited Ernest Vaughn, Mrs. Hawks and Beatrice recently. Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Carroll and children of Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Virginia Clardy and son of Greenville and Eddie Abercrombie of Norfolk. Virginia visited Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Abercrombie Christmas week. Doris Simmons says she and Ralph have been painting and fixing up their new house and are beginning to get straightened out. Thank goodness. We are happy to report that Doris's husband, Ralph, is able to return to work after an operation illness. Sammy McCall's mother, Mrs. Sophie McCall. had a birthday December 29. His father, Mr. Andrew McCall. a birthday January 19. Patsy Bradley and Kathv Pettv. nieces of Sammy had birthdays in January. Kelvire Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simmons, was 5 years old January 20. Mrs. Lona Mae Roberts will have a birthday February 5. Her son, A. B. Lawrence, a birthday F e b r u a r v 2. and grandson. Allen Bible, a birthday February 4. Susan Lawson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lawson. was 4 years old January 29. WEAVING No. 2 3rd Shift By Joe B. Spillers Janice Metts recently took a complete examination for a heart condition at General Hospital in Greenville. She is getting alone all right now Shi* is tho daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Metts. Elaine MeCarson recently spent a week at the Roper Medical Clinic in Charleston where she took treatments and had a complete examination for a bad heart condition. It's only about five months now till the fourth of July and we can have a few days off again. We'd like to thank the management for our Christmas bonus which I am sure added to our holiday enjoyment. Mell and Inabell went shopping in Clreenville December 22 and you know the stores were open till nine, bv that time it was so foggy Mell said they almost got lost, but they weren't the only ones. Ruth vMuet, r.unice ana r,ari tsraswell and Cecil and your reporter (Grace) attended the wedding of our niece, Miss Joy B r i d w e 1 1 , and Larry Owings in Startex that same Saturday night and the bride and groom were not alone in a fog. Everyone else was. We all missed the road going back to mother's and had to turn around and go back. Of course Joy and Larry were not looking for that road, but they had no trouble getting awav from us. Mr. and Mrs. Gholdie Simmons and Dixie spent the Christmas holidays in Norfolk. Virginia with Evelvn's sister. Margaret, and 4,Tan" Windsor. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbs spent two days of their vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee but came back to Clemson to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hardv in time for Santa Claus' visit to Mike and Brent. Harold Meadows, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Meadows. sailed from New York January 17 on the Queen Mary bound for England and a reunion with his wife and children who went over last August. (That is if Ola can't talk him into just sending for them and bringing them back over here.) Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kennedy have a new granddaughter ...I 1 1 wiiu was Dorn uecemoer jd. Quite a wonderful Christmas gift. folks! Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lamie Brewington. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Brewington are bragging about a new grandson born December 30 to Mr. and Mrs. Bobby English. I guess Cecil and 1 will do a little bragging too. We learned in December that we * J ? ** "Come February 3 I will be one year old", says Jonie Lynn Johnson. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Johnson and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hamrick. have a new granddaughter! The little girl has been named Crystal Lynn, and she's just one more reason for us wanting SP 5 and Mrs. Jimmy Wooten and children to come home from Germany. A1 c James R. Barker of Minot, North Dakota, spent the holidays with his wife and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Barker. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shetley spent a week end with Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Harrill and they all spent a Sunday in Columbia. Mrs. L. etley is Mr. Harrill's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Butler of Florence. S. C. and Mr. .Timmv Rrm'linrt nf Hrnoi ville, S. C. visited Mrs. Eva Chafin and Ervin. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wilkie of Dallas. Texas spent Christmas with his mother. Mrs. Missouri Wilkie. R. C. was home for the holidays too. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith and family and Mrs. J. F. Anderson from Gainesville. Georgia spent a week end with Mrs. Anderson's daughter. Mrs. Missouri Wilkie. Mrs. Barbara Hill from U.S.C. was a New Year's guest of Mrs. Wilkie. Missouri says she really did have a vacation. she cooked all the time but she really enjoyed her guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra T. Spries of Columbia visited the J. A. McNinch's and Mrs. Emma Mavfield. Mr. and Mrs. David James and daughters. Mrs. Claraine Lawson. daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lawson was a medical patient at Bailey Memorial hospital the first of the month. We sincerely hope she's recovering well.
