OCTOBER. 1958 WEAVING NO. 1 1st Shift By Sudie Putnam Those cool days sure arc nice after a long hot summer. Donald Powers spent a weekend at home recently. Thomas Keplinger, a friend, came with him. They are stationed at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk. Va. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tally of Salem. S. C., and Mr. Luther Neal and son of Greenville, were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal. Nellie Price and Mrs. Ella Harvey visited Mrs. Harvey's sister. Mrs. Bessie Nelson, of Lanford Station. Mr. Nelson has been ill for quite some time. Mr. Cole was a patient at Hays hospital were he underwent surgery, due to something being wrong with his elbow. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Putnam and Wallace attended a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Murphy in Joanna recently. Bruce Murphy has recently finished his basic training with the A i l* i Roy Jackson ami his mother, Mrs. D. G. Jackson, were recent visitors of Mrs. W. D. Terry, due to the illness of Susan. Susan underwent an appendectomy at Hays Hospital. She has returned home now and doing fine. Arthur Davis has returned to work after being a patient at Havs Hospital. James Harris is working in Weaving s3 now and we're sorry to lose him. but glad to have Marcel (Nub) Barker to take his place. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wish I had ] thought them up. though. i We've had quite a number ' of our folks out sick during the last month. Joyce Hand- ] back and Alta Riser have both ( been hospital patients. Dot Lanford was on sick leave for i a week or so. but we're happy i they're able to be back at work. Mildred Kinard is on our sick list at the time of ] this writing, we hope she'll be back real soon. Also Aline Lanford is now on sick leave. ] : 1 - i we wisn hit a speeay re- i covery. We welcome James Harris < to Weaving s3. He comes from i Weaving = 1. Mrs. Harris is a ; patient at State Park. Columbia. Mr. Harris and children visit her regularly and report | that she is making progress ( toward recovery, for which | we're very glad. We sure hope she continues to improve. We should be very ( grateful for the work that the Tuberculosis Association is doing and support it wholeheartedly with our financial backing. It really takes money to do what they're doing, so when their drive starts, give generously. ( Mr. and Mrs. Grady Turner visited her sister, Mrs. Inez Griffith, who is a surgical patient at Greenville General Hospital. Our best wishes to her for an early recovery. Moll and Inaboll went window shopping in Greenwood on a recent Sunday afternoon, but Mell said it would be about as hard to got those things out of the window as it would be to buy them. Marv Terrv was sure thrilled to get on the "honor roll" recently (97.02 production, no seconds. Ask Mary what she forgot the next day.) Mr. and Mrs. Bootsic Allman had the former's father. Mr. I). U. Allman. of Union as guest recently and they visited Bootsie's sister, Mrs. THE CLOTHMAKER Jzzie Cooper, in Pelzer, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbs and ;on visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill lardy at Clemson on a recent Sunday and the weather was 10 beautiful they just couldn't esist a trip on up into the nountains. MM I and Mrs. Dalmer Wooen and children were recent ?uests of the Cecil Wootens. Jalmer. who has been sta.ioned at a naval base in Connecticut for the past 8 nonths, is being transferred jack to Key West. Fla. Ask Sam Owens and Jimmv Braswell how thcv enjoyed he World Series. They were it?ht on hand in New York or four of the games. I know hev enjoyed Saturday and Monday's game, for the Yanks .von those two. Hope they lidnt' lose any money on this ;eries. A3/C Kurman Adams spent 1 21 day leave with his par?nts. Mr. and Mrs. Robert '\dams. The Air Force has eallv streamlined Furman. He reports to Westover Field. Mass.. from here. Good luck .o you. Furman. Kenneth Meeks was also a visitor to Weaving -3 recently. He took basic training at Fort Benning. Ga.. but we Jidn't get a chance to talk to Tim. so we don't know where ie goes from here. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Terry. A. G. Galloway has been bragging about a new grand daughter, Tammv Angeline. born to Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin. September 28. at Hays Hospital. Tammy weighed 7 lbs. 4 ounces. Mother is the former Miss Martha Galloway. Mrs. Missouri VVilkie has been doing a little bragging, too. but about a grandson. Dennis Stanley James, born September 29 at Blalock's Clinic.
