4 NEWS FROI SPOOLING. 3RD By B. Stewart Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Reece and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Willis were visitors in Canton, N. C. Miles and Giles Lawson spent a week end with the A. E. Ealys. The Robert Whitsels, Mrs. Louise Martin and son enjoyed a picnic dinner at Horse Shoe Falls. The William Samples and the Jessie Samples were Sunday visitors in Charlotte, N. C. The A. E. Ealys, the Miles Lawsons, the Harold Copelands, the Mayfield Copelands, and the James Taylors were dinner guests of the H. A. Copelands on Father's Day. Misses Sally and Sara Frances Nabors were guests of the Miles Lawsons. The Henry Kings, the Paul Motes, the John Brewingtons and the Bo Kings enjoyed a Sunday at Paris Mountain N. C. The Sam Owens, the Jimmy Braswells, and the Truman Owens spent the week end at Myrtle Beach recently. Mrs. W. C. Wallenzine, with Mrs. Cleo Wallenzine and Margaret, visited Mrs. Geneva Coker, who is improving in the Newberry Hospital in "NT 1 newueny. Mrs. Fannie Parrish visited her daughter, Norma, in Columbia Sunday. Marion Turner, Miss Shirley Ivcster, Mrs. James Taylor, James Turner and Miss Alma Jo Poole attended the Carolina Hoe Down in Greenville Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dunaway and family visited Mrs. Dunaway's mother, Mrs. D. C. O'Shields. who is a patient in the Wallace Tompson Hospital in Union. They also visited the George Hyatts in Buffalo. Miss Nancy Barfield of Bridgeton, New Jersey spent several weeks here with the Fred Tumblins and other relatives recently. The Thomas Prathers attended the Minick-Ferguson wedding in Newberry Saturday. Mr. Prather was usher. Mr. Ferguson is the brother of Martha Prather. The Brevard Pattersons had as their guest Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Ivey and children of Greenwood. Mrs. A. C. Whitten of Seneca was the week end guest of the Thomas Prathers. Mrs. Whitten is the grandmother of Martha Prather. Family Gathering Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Lowe were host to a family gathering at their home on Pitts Street. Dinner was served on the lawn, picnic style. This occasion was honoring Mrs. Buddy Blackwelder and her four boys of Wilmington, Del., and Pat Lowe's birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Davis. THIRD By Lee Thornton Mary Miles spent the week end in Aiken recently. Mrs. Gladys Hucks, Pat, Tommy, and Tonita Miles are vacationing in N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Ellison Roberts spent a week end in Fountain Inn recently. Buck Wilson is recovering from a knee operation, we hope he'll soon be well. Larry Masters underwent an operation recently on his wrist. We wish him speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Snelgrove and family and Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Sullivan vacationed recently at Ocean Drive. Robert Gilliam, son of Ulvss Gilliam, is recovering from mumps. Mrs. Elsie Wyatt and son are spending July Holidays with Mrs. Lillian Trammell. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Barker and family recently. The Hoy Cannons are grandparents two times now, since little Teresa Joy arrived. Proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bardy Cannon. We asked Mrs. Leopard where she was going on vacation. and she said she was going to sit on the front porch and watch the other people go. Did she? Pvt. Raymond Lawrence of Fort Hood, Texas is up and about again after a few weeks in the hospital out there. Carl Galloway, son of the A. G. Galloways, is a patient at the Veterans hospital in Augusta, Ga., where he underwent an operation recently. Mrs. Alice Kuvkendall is recuperating at home after undergoing surgery at Hays Hospital. Ralph Stewart and Mrs. Ina Bell Hooper remain ill at their homes. We are sending our best wishes to each of these folks for an early recovery. Also to Mrs. Alta Riser who is a patient at Hays Hospital at the time of this writing. Birthday and Anniversary Department Sure are a lot of birthdays in July.
