Jeanes and wife and Frank McFall and wife, of Pick ens, spent a few days at Table Rock hotel recently. Messrs. G. W. Dorr, J. W. Thomas and M. F. Hester have been' appointed commissioners for Federal elections for Pickens county. The Piedmont Band, compos ed of 22 pieces, are rendering stirring music at the Pickens County Fair. This is a good band - and it makes splendid music. The agricultural and stock ex hibits at the Pickens County Fair, it Is claimed by those who know, will compare most favor ably -with any state exhibits yet made. . Gillespie and wife, of Edgefid, are on a visit to relatives In the county. Leo preached an excellent sermon In the Pickens Methodist church last Sabbath morning. People from all over the state have come to the Pickens Coun ty Fair, and conservative esti maters place the attendance for the three days at between fif teen and twenty thousand people. So far, only one accident at the fair, and that an unavoid able one. Tuesday, as the ox race was being arrenged, one of the oxen became frightened and tore'loose from the buggy, caus - ing a horse to also break loose, and both ran a neck-a-nd-neck race up to Main street, where the horse swerved and struck Capt. The baptizing at Griffin church last Sabbath was well attended and the largest crowd ever on the ground was present. Nine hundred vehicles was counted and the crowd, cobservatively estimate4, was 8,000. There were 80 cahdidates for immer. sion. The Pickens Railroad will operate a special train to Easley, Saturday, the 19th instant, on account of the John Sparks shows. Leave Pickens at 7 p. m., sharp. Round trip is 50c. Get tickets at the ticket office as soon Saturday as you can."This is a good chance for everybody to go to the show and the rail road should have a good crowd. The whistle will blow five min utes before leaving time. The whole family and the dog are in. Pickens this week. "Scenes at a County Fair" are greatly in edidence and all are having the time of their lives. On all sides are heard words of commendation of the great suc cess of the Pickens County Fair and the hope that it may be a permanent organization, and the promise that next year the exhibits WILL BE worth a week's trip to come and see. The ladies of the Methodist church at Pickens gave an en tertainment last Friday even ing, which was liberally patron ized. The entertainment was held at the residence of Mrs. B. A. Hagood, and an entertain ing and interesting programme was rendered. Refreshments were served, and quite a hand some sum was realized, which goes to the Parsonage Aid society of the Methodist church. In the programme, the ladies of the other denominations responded most helpfully and freely, and their assistance added material ly to the success of the evening's pleasure. It was altogether a most enjoyable experience to all who participated, and all went away charmed with Mrs. Ha good's hospitality. We are requested by the Presi dent, E. H. Craig, to state that a meeting of the Pickens Coun ty Poultry, 'Pigeon and Pet Stock Association will hold a meeting in the Court house on next Thursday, the 24th inst., at 3:30 o'clock, sharp, railroad time. All members are urged to be present and to bring the naies of prospective members. There Is lots of business to be at tended to and if the show on the 2d, 3d and 4th of December is a success all members will have to work hard from now until that time. Let there be a full attendance at this meet ing as all committees must be appointed and work arranged for them and plans formulated at this meeting to make the poultry show as much of a suc cess as was the County Fair.
