mMill— IDHLUIUS • COminUCD PROfD ID final two games of last season. Watching her teammates on the bench, Simms highlighted the play of junior guards Stacy Booker and Angela Hunter as two players that stepped up for the team. Both saw their minutes and leadership roles increase at the end of the season last year to add a greater depth of experience to the backcourt, reminiscent of the 2000-2001 season before Walvius’ team also traveled to Europe and sparked the NCAA Tournament run. In October 2000, team leaders Jocelyn Penn, Crishna Hill and Kelly Morrone were sidelined with injuries that helped the young team gain experience, leading to two consecutive tournament trips. After noticing that her team is now starting to do all “the little things better,” Walvius can only hope this basketball team can mimic the success of her best Carolina team. “(During our European trip this summer), we had better " defensive execution and we had better offensive execution,” Walvius said. “Were setting each other up for success. We look like a whole different basketball team.” Comments on this story? Quarterbacks struggled in Week 6. No quarterback delivered high scores this week. Mark Brunell led in scoring with 331 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Palmer also put up his regular consistent numbers with 272 , yards and two touchdowns. Neither threw an interception. The worst performance of the week goes - to Tommy Maddox. He stepped in for the injured Ben Roethlisberger and threw for only 154 yards with three interceptions. Look for • Big Ben to be back in the starting position next week against Cincinnati. An injured Roethlisberger will be more effective than a healthy Maddox. * Daunte Culpepper continued his horrific season this week throwing two . interceptions and for only 237 yards. The sex scandal-ridden Vikings can be sworn off this season and so can all your fantasy players from Minnesota. I’d drop them and find better alternatives. Only 10.5 percent of owners own Mark Brunell. « Drop Culpepper and try to pick up Brunell if you can. Panthers running back Stephen Davis had a disappointing week. He was inefficient against the Lions’ defense. He was supposed to carry the rushing load this week, but he managed only 27 yards on 13 carries. Muhsin Muhammad had only 5 catches for 48 yards and zero touchdowns. He has struggled alPyear for the Bears after a career year with the Panthers last season. Injuries were perhaps the biggest story from Week 6. One of the highest -rated receivers, Randy Moss, left the game early and didn’t return. He had zero catches and no yards. He is questionable for this week’s game at Buffalo. Hines Ward, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Joe Horn are also injured. Jake Delhomme got demolished by one of the Saints’ defensive backs and could miss some action. For tiebreaking purposes, please include your score for the Auburn game. And don't forget your name! "■' • " ■ /■ ■■' T$FN ll pi . pT'cx If you still have Jake Delhomme as your starter, you might look to trade him in the next week or so. With Delhomme’s go-for-broke passing style, games such as last week’s three-interception effort are likely to be more common as the season goes on. Looking ahead to Week 7, the Houston Texans will lose again. This means Edgerrin James should run wild against the Texans after having 143 yards against St. Louis last week. Come to think of it, Stephen Hawking could run wild against the Texans. Continue to be patient. If your team’s working for you to this point and you’re leading your league, don’t shake things up. It’s still early enough to get crazy with some trades if your team is struggling and needs a pick me-up. Good luck.
