Sonya Duhe was named as the new associate vice president Tuesday. “Dr. Duhe’s leadership abilities, faculty perspective and expertise in communications make her appointment to my office a key step in the continued growth of the university’s research program, jesearch campus enterprise and leading role in the development of South Carolina’s economy,” said Harris Pastides, vice president for Research and Health Sciences, in a news release. “I am confident that her high energy level and collaborative approach will be valued by the university’s internal and external constituents.” Duhe’s duties will include maintaining the relationship between faculty members and the Office of the Vice President for Research, as well as using research related communications to boost USC’s national image. She will also serve as a liaison for USC’s Sponsored Awards Management Team. Duhe will continue her research in applied broadcast, and risk and crisis communications with the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. She will also continue teaching in Senior Semester, a program in which senior broadcasting students conduct a daily live broadcast. Duhe was one of the founders of the program. Duhe helped found the minor program for the School of the Environment. She was director of that program from 1996 to 2000. Comments on this story?
