Student-run Carolina Productions brings acts such as Kanye West to the center, and students often get discounts for major events. HEADLINERS 700-B Gervais St. New owners mean renovations, and while Headliners is closed, the Vista venue is sure to play host to loads of shows when it gets up and running again this year. Local rock sensations Crossfade and Drive by Truckers were among the bands to grace its stage last year. HUNTER-GATHERER ; 900 Main St. The restaurant that’s less than a block away from campus offers improvisational jazz every Thursday after 9 p.m. In addition to its excellent menu and handcrafted beers, Hunter-Gatherer often has music on \ Saturday nights. THE TOWNSHIP AUDITORIUM 1703 Taylor St. Once Columbia’s premier venue for theatre, ballet and concerts before competition from other venues surfaced, the Township is restructuring to ensure that one of the city’s oldest and most beautiful spaces is enjoyed by generations to come. Bob Dylan, Widespread Panic and Columbia City Ballet’s traditional holiday production of The Nutcracker grace the Township’s stage. Itscoffee beans are roasted right in the store for excellent coffee. The atmosphere is funky, giving it a traditional coffee shop vibe. COOL BEANS 1217 College St. Since it’s close to campus, this coffee shop will i'f probably be filled with students waxing philosophic and cramming.
