Marty Fort, booking agent for the Art Bar and director of the Columbia Guitar Academy, is playing host to a Crooners and Swooners night, which should bring you back to the days of The Rat Pack with sounds from local rock ’n’ rollers turned jazz musicians. Fort said he believes familiar faces will make the night a success. You wont want to miss Danielle Howie or Patrick Baxley of Hot Lava Monster,” Fort said. “Tim Bedford, the assistant manager of Art Bar, will be singing a song as well.” The show is supposed to be a 19-song set and somewhat along the lines of a formal concert. “However,” Fort said, “we are going to try apd take requests.” The set list includes classics such as “My Funny Valentine,” “Danke Schoen,” “A Kiss to Build a Dream On” and “New York, New York.” The emcee of the night might also be a familiar face. “His name is Stan Garner, and he’s a bartender over at the Hunter Gatherer bar and restaurant,” Fort said. Other local favorites will perform, including Carrie Phillips, Kenley Young (from How To Vanish), Jay Matheson (from The Spooges), Rob Lindsey and Fort himself. The backing band is a sextet of a saxophone, piano, trumpet, guitar, double bass and drums with the members being former and current USC students. Marty encourages guests to “dress to impress.” “It’s not required, but it’s definitely encouraged,” Fort said. “Wear something sexy. Nice suits, good-lookin’ skirts. Holly Parker, Pout’s makeup artist with eight years experience, describes the store as “a makeup studio.” “We carry exclusive makeup lines you would find in upscale department stores such as Neiman ■ Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman,” Parker said. Pout also sells lingerie and baby products. “We are the only makeup studio that carries exclusive makeup lines and has professionally trained makeup artists,” Parker said. Pout carries a wide range of products and features brands such as Fresh, Terax, Molton Brown, Sue Devitt and Char.tecaille. Prices range from $18 to $295. Parker said some of Pout’s best sellers are the SoftDog soy candles, Fresh brand makeup and Mario Badescu products. “I love the Fresh body products, but I’m really partial to the • Chantecaille makeup line,” Parker said. Pout has just begun carrying the Classified Cosmetics ERA airbrush makeup line.
