The 600-800 block of Harden Street is terminally clogged, as the intersection of Devine and Harden streets is still a one-lane war-zone. Avoid turning left onto Devine from Harden — it snarls traffic for the rest of us. Construction equipment makes a nice addition to the skyline. ♦ Further on up the road, congestion in the 900-1000 BLOCK OF HARDEN has eased up. Sidewalk and curb work is ongoing, but last week’s funnel of insanity has reopened into a two-lane tunnel of love. Still avoid the dreaded left turn out of Food Lion. It’s easier to hit a traffic light to avoid death. ♦ The 1200 BLOCK OF MAIN STREET is an impenetrable wasteland to thru-traffic. Unless you do business there or have a delivery, just keep driving. Find a meter oh Assembly Street and take a walk. ♦ Taking GERVAIS STREET BETWEEN SUMTER AND ASSEMBLY STREETS is a great way to soak in the State House scenery for a few minutes, as traffic is still one-lane. If you’re headed to Assembly or points beyond, stay in the left lane to avoid drunken merging. Businesses in the aforementioned blocks remain open. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8 ©GRAND LARCENY OF LAPTOP Capstone 1618, 902 Barnwell St. Two victims reported the theft of various electronics from their room, including a Sony VAIO computer (estimated value: $3,000), an Apple I-Pod (estimated value: $399), a Motorola phone charger (estimated value: $20) and three CDs (estimated value: $12 each). Reporting officer: C. Welch. THURSDAY, JUNE 9 ©INFORMATION Henderson and Senate streets A 22-year-old Tega Cay man was walking down the Henderson Street sidewalk when a fence system fell on him. The man saw his private physician for pain in his left shoulder. FRIDAY, JUNE 10 • PUBLIC DISORDERLY CONDUCT Groucho's Parking lot, Blossom Street Reporting officer C. Welch arrested a woman after she could not remember the correct date, time or U.S. president. Welch observed the subject from a distance where he witnessed her stumble, fumble for her keys, then attempt to hide between two cars. Upon approaching the subject, Welch noticed the woman had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. After becoming loud, boisterous and profane the subject was arrested, and EMS was called for assistance. SATURDAY, JUNE 11 ©AUTO BREAK-IN Strom Thurmond Fitness & Wellness Center, 1000 Blossom St. The victim said someone broke into her vehicle through the driver’s-side window using a rock. Stolen items included her purse (estimated value: $215), cell phone (estimated value: $200), and various credit and debit cards. Reporting officer: J. Widdifield.
