Traffic , Your guide to navigating \\I Jk I f — Columbia’s mean streets ▼ ▼ AA W^^A. A _ FROM NEWS RELEASES ♦ It seems like the 600-800 block of Harden Street has been snarled with construction forever, and this week won’t be any different. The Devine and Harden intersection has been reopened, but be prepared for other conduits still narrowed to one lane and more blind spots for drunks to hide in. If you’re driving, avoid Five Points like the plague. If you can’t avoid it, try sticking to the posted 25 mph construction speed limit (for once). • ♦ Not to be outdone, the 900 1000 block of Harden is getting its own curb and sidewalks. Trying a left turn out of the Food Lion parking lot is more of a flirtation with disaster than ever. Take a right and make a U-turn to avoid the traffic onslaught. ♦ Gervais Street traffic between Sumter and Assembly streets is still one lane. If you’re headed to the Vista or Interstate 126, avoid the slow crawl in front of the State House by hitting Assembly from campus. ♦ The 1200 block of Main Street is still getting a good streetscaping and is navigable by foot only. ♦ Bikers and pedestrians beware: the sidewalk in front of the Greene Street Post Office may be repaired this week. Don’t say we didn’t warn you if you trip or skin a knee. Businesses in the aforementioned blocks remain open.
