Only a few on-campus crime reports make it into The Gamecock — some funny, some controversial and some worthy of front-page news. Regardless, some were worthy of further recognition. SATURDAY, JAN. 15 INFORMATION, 1400 BLOSSOM ST., EAST QUAD In the early morning, the victim reported her boyfriend had been gone since 9 p.m. and had failed to pick her up as planned at midnight. Her boyfriend of one and a half months had her car and cell phone. In a fit of anger, the victim flipped over two tables and a chair, broke a bottle and threw other unnamed items around her room. Reporting officers: M. Winnington and G. Kerwin. SUNDAY, JAN. 16 DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 916 BARNWELL ST. The officer noticed a man urinating unsteadily between two vehicles. He admitted to drinking but had no ID. The man also admitted to being only 20 years old. The officer noted slurred responses in both cases and arrested the man. Reporting officer: M. Winnington. THURSDAY, JAN. 20 PEEPING TOM, 614 BULL ST., SOUTH TOWER A female victim reported to officer S.M. Simmons that a man had watched her as she was taking a shower. Investigation continues. SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, 438 MAIN ST., WEST QUAD Officers K. Adams and R. Baker were dispatched to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The persons inside were possibly administering drugs. The first subject exited the car, smelling strongly of marijuana. The passenger said that he had the marijuana bur there was “none left, I smoked it up.” They searched and found a 13-inch butcher knife over the driver side visor. It was confiscated for evidence. MALICIOUS INJURY TO REAL PROPERTY, 1405 WHEAT ST., BATES WEST/USC HOUSING SHOP An unknown person lobbed a frozen water bottle from one of the building’s upper floors. The projectile hit a USC Housing car parked outside causing an estimated $500 in damage. Reporting officer: J.M.H. Harrelson. LARCENY OF GROUND BEEF, RUTLEDGE DORM, 902 SUMTER ST. The complainant said someone removed two green plastic cups (estimated value: $2) and one pound of ground beef (estimated value: $3) from his room. Reporting officer: C. Knoche. TUESDAY, JAN. 25 LARCENY OF FOG LAMP, 600 PARK ST. The complaint said someone removed a fog lamp that was attached to the front of the victim’s vehicle. The brand and model is unknown. Reporting officer: J.M. Simmons. SUNDAY, JAN. 30 GRAND LARCENY OF WHEELCHAIR, WOODROW COLLEGE, 1315 GREENE ST. The victim said he left his Quickie wheelchair at the door while he visited a friend. The victim said that because the dorm is not wheelchair-accessible, he left his wheelchair in a common area. When he returned, it had been carried away. Retail value of a Quickie folding wheelchair is $ 1,210. Reporting officer: M.P. Weiss. DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND OPEN CONTAINER, 449 BLOSSOM ST. Reporting officer G. Kerwin approached a vehicle and found two men asleep inside. Officers Weiss and Adams were also called to the scene. Kerwin asked the first man if he knew where he was. He said, “Charleston.” He also said he was not driving. When asked, he stepped out of the vehicle and was unsteady on his feet, and had slurred speech and red eyes. The second man woke up in the same condition. Kerwin looked inside the vehicle before the subjects woke up and found a Budweiser box with five empty bottles inside. WEDNESDAY FEB. 2 ILLEGAL USE OF TELEPHONE, THREATENING WUSC, 1400 GREENE ST. The victim said someone called her workplace and made threatening remarks of bodily harm because of the music she was playing. Reporting officer: P.I. Jones. FRIDAY, FEB. 4 ASSISTANCE RENDERED, PRESTON COLLEGE, 1301 GREENEST. Reporting officer G. Kerwin responded to Preston College in reference to a suspicious person in the lobby. Kerwin observed the victim had a slightly bloody face, dirty pants and slighdy bloody knuckles. Kerwin asked him what happened and the victim said he fell from a building. He said he tried to climb Douglas Dorm and fell approximately one story. EMS and First Response responded. The victim had alcohol in his system. He was transported to Baptist ER. SUNDAY, FEB. 6 ASSISTANCE RENDERED, BLAH PHYSICAL EDUCATION CENTER, 1328 WHEAT ST. The victim cut his finger while lifting weights. On his way to the equipment room to get a Band-Aid, he passed out and hit his head. The victim said he was hypoglycemic. Reporting officer: M. Wheeler. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 9 LARCENY OF BANNER, WOODROW COLLEGE, 1415 GREENE ST. A black male in a white T-shirt removed a red, white and blue, 36-by-48 inch banner with “Justin Williams for Student Government President” written on it. He said five other banners were removed. Russell House officials said the banners were not removed on their authority. Estimated value: $84. Reporting officer: M. Wheeler. ASSISTANCE RENDERED, WADE HAMPTON, 1528 GREENEST. The victim received second-degree burns to her right arm after dropping her TV dinner and attempting to catch it. Reporting officer: B. Adams. FRIDAY, FEB. 18 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, PICKENS STREET CROSSWALK The victim told reporting officer G. Kerwin that a white male approached her and told her she had “nice hair.” When she turned around to thank him, he was very close behind her. He seemed angry with her. The victim became more suspicious because she met up with two of her friends, and the subject stayed in the area watching her. SATURDAY, MARCH 26 PUBLIC DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 900 BARNWELL ST. Reporting officer M.P. Weiss responded to a report of subjects placing a bicycle in a tree. Weiss found a man who smelled like alcohol, was unsteady on his feet, and had slurred speech. He was cooperative and admitted placing the bicycle in the tree. The bicycle was removed and placed into evidence for safekeeping. THURSDAY, APRIL 7 CIVIL DISTURBANCE, RUSSELL HOUSE, 1400 GREENEST. Reporting officers Morant, M. Wheeler, Widdifield and D. Davis witnessed approximately 12 to 15 male subjects hitting one another. The officers also witnessed the subjects swinging brown paddles at one another. The subjects dispersed and were not individually picked out. FRIDAY, APRIL 1 MALICIOUS INJURY TO REAL PROPERTY, MAXCY COLLEGE, 1332 PENDLETON ST. The complainant told reporting officer M.P. Weiss that someone damaged two tables, valued at $100, and two chairs, valued at $200, in the basement. The subjects also placed unknown substances on door handles, placed duct tape over motion sensors and “rigged” trashcans against elevators, causing them to spill when opened. The subjects also moved soda machines to block doors, threw clothing from the laundry room on the floor, moved furniture, dumped trashcans and placed condoms in ‘the hallways. The complainant said the RAs were specifically targeted. A foosball table was moved in front of one RA’s door so she could not leave. Ropes were tied to other RAs’ doors so they could not open them. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13 FOUND PROPERTY, BA METER LOT, 900 BARNWELL ST. , The complainant found possible lost or stolen property strewn on the ground. Among the contents were one flagpole, one fart machine, one weed whacker, one tent, seven soccer-type folding chairs, two flag-design umbrellas, one orange extension cord, one pair of brown Dockers, one socket set with ratchet, five tie-downs, one chainsaw with weed cutters and one black box. THURSDAY, APRIL 14 INFORMATION/CIVIL DISPUTE, MED PARK FOUR, SUITE 100 ( The complainant said a woman became angry with her and her staff in reference to an appointment for her daughter. She told the staff that if her daughter could not be seen by a regular optometrist there would be “hell to pay.” The complainant said she could be seen at 4:30 p.m., and the woman hung the phone up. While reporting officer R.B. Baker was gathering information for the report, she showed up for her daughter’s appointment.
