More gym-goers are opting for equal parts comfort and style in their workout apparel, and clothing stores are following suit. “Men do the practical thing” when it comes to sportswear, said Kristy Polk, manager and buyer at Jeff Price Tennis, Ski and Skate. In other words, their workout wardrobe can consist of a T-shirt and either sport shorts or track pants. As long as it’s comfortable, the style doesn’t matter so much. Most guys work out in their favorite T-shirt, without worrying about the brand or look of it. Although women’s attire can be cute, women are not going to work out in something uncomfortable or impractical, as this seems to be a fair consensus among managers and employees at various sports stores. Many stores carry fitted, but not tight, attire for women to work out in. Some brands even have brighter colors, including greens and pinks, as contrasted with guys’ attire. Most women look for comfort and practicality as well as style when choosing workout apparel. recognizes the fact that women like to have fun with their clothes, including sportswear. Adidas and Nike are top sellers for women and men at Jeff Price, Polk said. In fa{*, the new Adidas by Stella McCartney line is interesting to Polk because he said it is fashionable sportswear and unique. “(Jeff Price) is always looking for stuff no one has to be set apart from (department stores,” Polk said. Formed in the mid-1990s, Embrace was introduced with the likes of Oasis and the Verve.
