of higher ticket prices, concert
attendance is down.
John Scher, president of
Metropolitan Entertainment
Group, which produces concert
tours nationally said, in an in
terview with ABC news, that
he thinks concert ticket prices
have increased to the point
where attending a musical
event has become more of a
luxury item, but that the trend
for rising ticket prices will not
stop any time soon.
“My experience has been
that when the economy has
weakened, the concert business
has not weakened,” Scher said.

student Brandy Diaz said
Columbia is more than a col
lege town.
“It is also the state’s center
for culture and business, which
just adds to its charm,” she said.
Diaz added that Columbia
and the surrounding areas
have a lot to offer students.
“Downtown Columbia has
spots for students to hear the
latest music from live bands,
or dance all night to a DJ,” she
said.
Seifert said she finds the at

Columbia appealing.
“Columbia is such a nice
place to live,” she said. “It is
not really a small town, but it
definitely has that small town
appeal with all of the friendly
people and nice shops.”
