John Scher, president of Metropolitan Entertainment Group, which produces concert tours nationally said, in an in terview with ABC news, that he thinks concert ticket prices have increased to the point where attending a musical event has become more of a luxury item, but that the trend for rising ticket prices will not stop any time soon. “My experience has been that when the economy has weakened, the concert business has not weakened,” Scher said. Diaz added that Columbia and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer students. “Downtown Columbia has spots for students to hear the latest music from live bands, or dance all night to a DJ,” she said.
