Robinson CONTINUED FROM PAGE 12 of learning the position over time and concentrating on graduating, his game seems to showcase the play of old as well. Robinson is the type of corner who isn’t will mPo take a risk when going for ^Pperception. Instead, he takes his role in a different manner. ' “If the big play comes, it comes,” he said. “The first thing you got to do is make sure the re ceiver doesn’t catch the ball. I’m patient. I’m willing to wait on it, I—--—--—--—---R and that’s what I do.” What Robinson has done in his career is something that hasn’t just impacted him but his team mates as well. “I see what he does, and I try to do the same thing he does on the field,” cornerback Teddy Crawford, another senior, said. “He leads by words, but he also leads by actions.” With all the emotion that Robinson will go through on Saturday, he still understands what playing the Clemson Tigers will mean. “The team that loses is the team that’s embarrassed until next season,” Robinson said. “That’s what it means. Nobody wants to lose this game.” And after being a part of this rivalry for the last three seasons, he said he’s seen it all on the field. “I’ve seen punches thrown in this rivalry,” Robinson said. “Anything that can be said about your mom, I’ve heard it. It’s a bib ter rivalry, but it’s fun at the same time.” And fun is exactly what Robinson hopes to have when he hits the field Saturday night. A lot of mandatory workouts missed, a lot team functions that are football related that were not attended and it became, in our mind, a problem. And one that needed to be addressed,” McKay said. McKay declined to say how many workouts Johnson had skipped, or whether missing a mandatory team meeting on Monday was the final straw. “We’re trying to win football games, and at some point you have to say this is not in the best inter est of winning. We had another path we could have taken, which is to go down the disciplinary path.... But this isn’t about mon ey. We’re not trying to get any money back from Keyshawn. We’re not trying to make an ex ample,” he said. Said Gruden: “It’s nothing per sonal.” “Hopefully he finds what he’s looking for. We’re in the same search for excellence and answers to how to get out of the funk we’re in,” he said.. . Joe Jurevicius, who returned last week after being sidelined sev en games with a sprained knee, likely will take Johnson’s spot in the lineup. “I really enjoyed playing with Keyshawn for the last 21/-2 years,” Bucs quarterback Brad Johnson said. “We won a lot of games to - gether and won a Super Bowl to gether. It’s unfortunate that it had to end this way, and I wish him well.” Bonds receives 6th MVP award ASSOCIATED PRESS NEW YORK — Barry Bonds won his record sixth National League MVP award Tuesday, becoming the first player to get the honor in three consecutive years.
