BOOK REVIEW Bad advice is in the air Chocano presents overdone approach to romantic relationships “DO YOU LOVE ME OR AM I JUST PARANOID?” Carina Chocano ★ out of ☆☆☆tfrir BY COREY GARRIOTT THE GAMECOCK Forget asking your mom for love advice; now the world has Carina Chocano. She is so wise - or so she would have you think. “What is love, anyway,” she asks, “aside from a liquor-fueled period of psychosis?” You can’t find this kind of dead on, hammer-on-head observation anywhere - except, of course, in Chocano’s magnum opus, “Do You Love Me, or Am I Just Paranoid?” None of her advice is cliched in the very, very least. A quick stroll through her book reveals that, stunningly, relationships are a se ries oi compro mises. One com promise you shouldn’t make, however: Don’t date egotistical people or drummers. Also, avoid reading too much into situations; or, as Chocano sarcastically and succinctly puts it, “Overthinking is a great way to turn a nonrelationship into a long, drawn-out, unrequited at tachment with serious dramatic potential.” That’s sarcasm, if you iorgot. And it’s all just so dam funny.
