The annual “Stand up for Life March and Rally” brought all types of people together on Saturday morning for a purpose they all felt adamant about. At 11 a.m., people began lining up along Greene Street in front of the Russell House before begin ning their march to the State House for a rally. Whether it was a banner or a piece of clothing, every person wore some sort of anti-abortion slogan. Sisters Jessica and Jillian Padgett, ages 7 and 4, grinned from ear to ear as they held their “Stop Abortion Now” signs while their grandmother took a picture. Fred Kerr, a veteran to the event and a prison Chaplain, wore a sign that read “Aren’t you glad your mom was pro-life?” Kerr was among the hundreds who strongly feel abortion is murder. “It says in the Bible ‘Thou shalt not kill.’ That shouldn’t be hard for people to understand who have love in their hearts,” he said As the march proceeded to the State House for the rally, the sounds of stroller wheels and the tune of “Amazing Grace” could be heard throughout the area. After everyone filed onto the State House grounds, registered nurse Jill Stanek of the National Association of Pro-Life Nurses opened the ceremony. According to the Christian ra dio station WMHK Web site, Stanek is the nurse who “exposed the practice of live-birth abortions at Christ Hospital near Chicago I STERLING UNIVERSITY APARTMENT FEATURES: • Ethernet service included • W/D in every apartment • Private Bedrooms available .
