BRIEFLY Police discover rare Beatles recordings LONDON (AP) - Police appear to have recovered about 500 original Beatles tapes that were stolen in the 1970s, including some never-released tracks, during raids Friday on members of a piracy racket in England and the Netherlands. British police said the tapes were “priceless.” Dutch police, who found the tapes in the Netherlands, agreed, but said analysis of the material was ongoing. “We’re investigating whether they really are the originals, but it appears to be so,” prosecutor spokesman Robert Meulenbroek said in Amsterdam. “There are about 500 tapes, so there’s quite a bit to research.” The tapes soon will be turned over to British authorities, he said. Police arrested five people in raids in England and in Holland, following an investigation that began about a year ago. The suspects’ names were not immediately released. AOL Time Warner chairman to resign NEW YORK (AP)-Steve Case, co-founder of America Online and an architect of its merger with Time Warner, will resign as AOL Time Warner Inc. chairman in May, the company said Sunday. Case said in a statement that he was stepping down because “some shareholders continue to focus their disappointment with the company’s post merger performance on me personally.” The announcement follows months of executive shuffles at the company — and speculation as to how long Case would last. He will remain on the company board and continue to co-chair its Strategy Committee. “This decision was personally very difficult for me, as I would love to serve as Chairman of this great company for many years to come,” Case said. Although the AOL Time Warner merger was promoted as an example of a new economy business reviving an old one, the influence of America Online on the company is waning. Get the information you need, then get going. The less information divulged, the better. TAURUS It’d be easier to get your message across if there wasn’t so much confusion. Don’t give up if there’s money involved. GEMINI You won’t have much trouble communicating your feelings to an attractive person, but probably not with words. You might be in unfamiliar territory, but relax and follow your instincts. CANCER There’s plenty of work, and the money should be pouring in. If it’s not, make a , correction. You should already know what needs to be done. LEO Don’t draw all the attention to yourself. You’ll do better if you keep a low profile. Let somebody else do the talking. Listen and take notes. LIBRA All of a sudden the path ahead opens up and everything seems possible. Contact with an old friend leads to new adventures. SCORPIO Some say that the way to get what you want is by using other people’s money. That’s not a bad deal if you can get it. And for home improvements, odds are good that you can. SAGITTARIUS You’re about to be asked to prove that you know what you’re talking about. Since you’re absolutely genuine, this won’t be a problem. CAPRICORN There’s less time for talk or contemplation. Somebody needs your services immediately. Conflicting orders can confuse. Insist they figure out what they want, even if you have to decide for them. Two Towers CONTINUED FROM PAGE 8 exaggerated, and the Ents final involvement in the fight against Saruman is influenced by different factors than it is in the book. One of the most noticeable differences is the absence Of Frodo’s encounter with Shelob, the spider, which occurs at the end of “The Two Towers” book. This scene is, however, included in final film of the trilogy, “The Return of the King,” which will come out later this year. Overall, “The Lord of the Rings” franchise is definitely worth the attention it has been receiving. “The Two Towers” is another must see. Comments on this story?
