A. Clarke stopped James W. Humphries for driving without headlights. After noticing a strong smell of alcohol, Clarke administered the one-leg test, which Humphries failed. Humphries was arrested. A court date is set for Aug. 30. O DRIVING UNDER THE .INFLUENCE, MINOR IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL, OPEN CONTAINER OF BEER, BLOSSOM AND PARK STREETS Edward M. Royall was stopped after narrowly missing Sgt. M.L. Gooding while traveling in the left lane on Blossom Street and running a red light at Main and Blossom, police said. Gooding stopped Royall and found an open beer container on the dashboard and someone else’s Georgia driver’s license, police said. Q FAILURE TO YIELD, DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION, MAIN AND WHEATON STREETS Brent L. Rewis was pulled over on Main Street. Department of Motor Vehicles records showed his driver’s license was suspended. The vehicle was released to its regular owner, and Rewis was arrested. A court date is set for Sept. 13. Reporting officer: M.L. Gooding. © DISORDERLY CONDUCT, ASSISTING OTHER AGENCY, GREENE AND PARK STREETS Benjamin Fraizer III flagged down Officer Nu Beza and asked for a ride to work in Cayce. Beza noticed Fraizer’s bloodshot eyes and dirty clothing. Fraizer was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, and was held on a bench warrant by the Charleston Police Department. © DISORDERLY CONDUCT, MINOR IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL, UNLAWFUL USE OF LICENSE, BARNWELL AND GREENE STREETS After seeing Andron J. Bagby and Lindsey N. Johns get into a car with alcohol, Sgt. M.L. Gooding stopped the pair, police said. Bagby escaped down Barnwell Street. Johns was issued a ticket for possession of alcohol and was released when Bagby came back and produced a fake New Jersey license to Officer J. Clarke, police said. He was subsequently arrested. © LARCENY OF SOFA, BLOSSOM STREET GARAGE The victim said someone took a blue sofa out of the victim’s truck bed, leaving scratches on the tailgate. Reporting officers: T. Cox and J. Henry. Sunday, Aug. 18 □ MUTUAL COMBAT, EAST QUAD COMMON AREA, 1400 WHEAT ST. Officers J. A. Clarke and P. Jones responded to a call of a fight and separated the two. They claimed to be friends in disagreement, and neither pressed charges. O AUTO BREAK-IN, LARCENY OF CD PLAYER, 438 MAIN ST. The victim reported that a JVC CD player, Alpine speaker and Apline amplifier were stolen from the victim’s car. Total estimated value: $550. Reporting officer: C. Taylor. Monday, Aug. 19 (9) BURGLARY, HUMANITIES OFFICE BUILDING, 1620 COLLEGE ST. The victim reported that someone entered rooms 716 and 714, where the entrance to the suite was pried open, and removed keys from the key box that access the seventh and ninth floors. Stolen was $60 cash. Reporting officers: Z.S. Voulearelis and J.D. Patterson. © ASSISTANCE RENDERED, 902 BARNWELL ST. A man accidentally walked into a window and injured himself. Emergency services responded, and he was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital. Reporting Officer: M.P. Craska. Tuesday, Aug. 20 M SIMPLE ASSAULT AND BATTERY, WALKWAY BETWEEN MCBRYDE AND BULL STREETS The victim said someone hit the victim’s face with a closed fist. The victim declined medical attention. @ ASSISTANCE RENDERED, 600 MAIN ST. The complainant and a witness said someone was in need of medical attention. Emergency services responded, and the person was taken to the Palmetto Baptist Medical Center emergency room. Reporting officers: J.D. Rosier and D. Hare. ® LARCENY OF LAPTOP, SIMS, 1501 DEVINE ST. The suspect removed a Compaq Presario from the second closet in the victim’s room. The laptop was black, and was held in a black carrying case with baby-blue trim stitching. Reporting officer: V.O. Jones. ® ASSISTANCE RENDERED, ADAM'S MARK HOTEL, 1200 HAMPTON ST. (OFF MAP) Officer J.D. Patterson responded to a call of female having stomach pains. Emergency services responded and took her to Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. I ■ « Wednesday, Aug. 21 E DISORDERLY CONDUCT, POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL UNDER 21, OPPOSING/RESISTING ARREST, 600 MAIN ST. - Andrew Joseph Hiller was seen staggering across Main Street at Blossom Street with a plastic cup in his hand, police said. Officer N. Dehaai asked Hiller for his USC student ID, when Hiller reached in his pocket, then turned and ran through the ' Douglas landing area, police said. Dehaai chased Hiller to the northwest corner of ■ Douglas. Hiller was on the ground when Dehaai tried to handcuff him. Hiller resisted and ran offagain while still holding Dehaai’s wrist, which caused Hiller to fall again, police said. Dehaai was assisted by Officer Rosier in handcuffing Hiller, whose eyes were bloodshot and whose breath smelt strongly of alcohol, police said. Hiller has a court date - on Sept. 16. GAMEC0c I |V.
