Patterson, while driving through B-3 lot, heard the sound of metal hitting metal. He believed the sound was from a meter being busted open. Patterson observed the subject ap proximately 10 feet from the north ernmost broken meter riding his bike south on Henderson Street. Patterson located two broken me ters in the same area. The subject was then caught and was found to have $3 in silver change on his per son. Columbia Police Department responded. A hammer was found at the scene. Tuesday, July 17 O INFORMATION LEAD ING TO FOUND PROPERTY, 101 PICKENS ST. Reporting officer J.R. Merrill spoke with the Carolina Gardens Apartments resident manager. Hypodermic needles were found on Whaley Street by a dumpster. The dumpter had overflowed. Merrill found and disposed of ap proximately 18 to 241/2 cc needles, consistent with those used for in sulin injections. © LARCENY OF U.S. CUR RENCY, USC SCHOOL OF MU SIC, 813 ASSEMBLY ST. Complainant stated that un known subject(s) rummaged through papers on top of her desk and removed $10 from an envelope placed there. Office doors were se cured according to the com plainant. Complainant reported that nothing else of value was tak en at this time. Reporting officer E Jones. © INFORMATIONAL, IN TERSECTION OF GREENE AND HENDERSON STREETS. Subject was seen by reporting officer E. Pereira riding a bike be hind Hamilton College. Pereira stopped subject for no lights, and subject stated that he had gotten the bike from an unknown person one hour prior. Pereira took bike for safekeeping. The bike is a 26” red and white Wal-Mart NEXT. © DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERSECTION OF GREENE AND BARNWELL STREETS Reporting officer N.U. Beza ob served subject staggering down sidewalk. Upon further inspec tion, Beza observed that the sub ject was unsteady on his feet, slurred his speech, had blood-shot eyes and smelled of alcohol. The subject was taken to Richland County Detention Center. Monday, July 16 ® ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, NORMAN J. ARNOLD SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH BUILD ING, 800 SUMTER ST. Complainant was closing the door of his vehicle and, once closed, items in rear of car were secured. Complainant then acci dentally struck his rear window, causing it to break. At the time of the report, the window had already been repaired. Reporting officer: E.A. Adkins. © DUS/OPEN CONTAINER, SENATE AND PICKENS STREETS Reporting officer N.U. Beza ob served subject parked in the mid dle of Senate and Pickens Streets for 3 to 4 minutes. The subject » drove off and was soon stopped by Beza for further investigation. The subject had two open containers of beer and was found to be driving under suspension. The subject was arrested and taken to Richland County Detention Center. © DUS/FAILURE TO YEILD, BLOSSOM AND SUMTER STREETS Reporting officer D. Pardue ob served subject make a left turn from Blossom Street onto Sumter Street, heading north and failed to . yield to oncoming traffic. The sub ject was nearly hit by two vehicles. Pardue made lawful traffic stop. Subject had no driver’s license in his possession. His driver's license was found to be suspended. Subject arrested and taken to Richland County Detention Center. Reason for suspension: two counts of failure to pay traffic fines. -
