TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (NOV. 16)
— Do something this year that
helps you get stronger, more
intelligent and more
sophisticated. Push beyond
your limits to see new sights
and meet new people. You’ve
been the big frog in the little
pond long enough. It’s time to
get into a bigger pond. This
will be expensive, but you can
afford it. Your best advisor is a
close family member, perhaps
one you don’t like — not yet, at
least. You’ll come to appreciate
the push he’s providing.
ARIES (MARCH 21-APRIL 19) -
There’s nothing you love better
than running wild and free,
way out ahead of everybody
else. The reason you’re so
pushy is that you’d like to push
through. Don’t let up!
TAURUS (APRIL 20-MAY 20) -
Today and tomorrow are best
for treasure hunting, so plan
accordingly. Ask questions of
people who have more than
you do. Ask about
investments, insurance and
the best value for your dollar.
GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 21)
Looks as if somebody has come
to your rescue. If he or she
hasn’t yet, holler. Somebody
nearby could take a huge load
off your back and do so
cheerfully. Don’t whine, but
don’t suffer in silence, either.
CANCER (JUNE 22-JULY 22) -
Love and work are closely
associated again today — and
not as in “I love my work,”
though that might be the case.
This is more like loving your
co-worker. Got a mom-and-pop
business? If not, give it some
consideration. That might be
the perfect thing.
LEO (JULY 23-AUG. 22) —
Plan a romantic surprise for
your sweetheart tonight. Make
it something you hardly ever
do. Keep it a secret until the
last moment. That will make it
even more fun. No water
balloons or fake spiders!
VIRGO (AUG. 23-SEPT. 22) -
It’s another good day for
getting rid of stuff. That goes
for stuff at work as well as stuff
at home. Why? To make room
for new stuff, of course.
LIBRA (SEPT. 23-OCT 22) —
Keep studying. You’re doing
fine. The more you learn, the
more quickly you’ll advance.
You’re good with words, but
that’s not enough. You also
need to know what you’re
talking about. Read the books!
Surf the Web!
SCORPIO (OCT. 23-NOV. 21) -
When you say it’s time to pay
up, the other guy knows you’re
not kidding. If you push a little,
the money will come pouring
in. It’s a great time for you to
make sales calls, too. You’re
irresistible.
SAGnTARIUS (NOV. 22-DEC. 21) -
You’re powerful and decisive,
but what you’re doing isn’t
easy. That’s not going to stop
you, of course. You’re on a
campaign to shine light on
something that’s been hidden,
and you’ll succeed.
CAPRICORN (DEC. 22-JAN. 19) -
Is your conscience bothering
you, or is it just time to make a
change? Something’s bugging
you, so take action. One way or
another, it'll get done.
AQUARIUS (JAN. 20-FEB. 18) -
You’re pushing to get a big job
done, even in the face of
1 opposition. You don’t care
whether everybody agrees
with you; you’re too busy. The
most important people are on
your side; so full speed ahead!
PISCES (FEB. 19-MARCH 20) -
If you have a secret you’ve
been keeping, be careful. It’s
liable to pop out. Is there
something you’re upset about
but were afraid to mention? It
might be hard at first, but if it
leads to a better understanding
with a loved one, go for it.

knowledge that the world of
wizardry exists. Harry’s
London family are muggles.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF
WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY:
The school where Harry is
trained in the arts of wizardry.
QUIDDITCH: The favored
sport of the wizard world.
Imagine hockey plus soccer,
with four balls going 50 mph 100
feet in the air
SORTING HAT: A magical hat
that places each new student at
Hogwarts into one of four
school houses.
GRYFFINDOR, HUFFLEPUFF,
RAVENCLAW, SLYTHERIN: The
four houses at Hogwarts;
Harry, Ron and Hermione are
in Gryffindor, as are a few
Preston residents.
GALLEONS, SICKLES, KNUTS:
Wizard money.
So head out to the theater,
but keep in mind that, behind a
lot of movies, there’s a much
better book. One hopes this
movie will live up to its book,
but, either way, take note of
this series.
(There has been word of the
release date of Harry Potter No.
5, except it will be sometime in
2002. The movie opens today at
most Columbia area theaters.)
Piebald
Emo band refuses
to grow up

almost as a lullaby, “fell
asleep with my clothes on,
dreamt that you were part of
my history.” The cover art
supports this emo trend by
showing pictures of the band
in nature, with bright blue
skies and tear-jerking
sunsets. But, if you notice in
one of these emotional
moments in the cover art, one
of them is urinating off an
embankment.
This pee-pee humor is
obvious in the photos shown in
the inside of their second
album, When Life Hands You
Lemons. One day, the four band
members stopped at a truck stop
and took a picture of the four of
them peering out of showers at
the camera. The infamous pre
pubescent bather lingers still in
their lyrical booklets.
The band has the remarkable
ability of keeping its sense of
humor and refusing to grow up.
The band still tours in the same
old bus that they’ve had since at
least their second album. Do
you remember those days of
riding to school on the bus with
the bouncy leather seats? Well,
these guys must miss this
feeling. Its tour bus is a short
yellow school bus with age, rust
and stickers along for the ride.
So, be on the look out for the
short yellow bus cruising
around Five Points this
Sunday. The band packs an
arsenal of newer sappier songs
along with the hard stuff from
way-back-when that everyone
loves, and maybe if the crowd is
good, Piebald will play some
tracks off its new album that it
recorded last month. Also
playing will be Element 101 and
Fairweather, two bands that
frequent the Columbia music
scene.
