GOOD CHARLOTTE
Good Charlotte is a rambunc
tious quintet hailing from An
napolis, Maryland.
This young rock band com
bines semi-auto-graphical lyrics
with raucous three-chord guitar
riffs to create an ambitious sound
rooted in punk.
The band found acclaim early
in its career when its single "Lit
tle Things" made its way to
WPLY in Philadelphia.
The song played 15 nights in a
row, helping Good Charlotte win
a demo contest.
The victory allowed the group
to tour with bigger names in
their genre such as Blink 182,
New Found Glory, Sum 41 and
Jimmy Eat World.
Its newest video, “Festival
Song,” is featured on the Playsta
tion 2/X Box game NHL Hitz.

boosted its record sales by hitting
malls all over San Francisco and
asking teenagers to listen to its
music.
Stroke 9’s growing local recog
nition created a buzz that allowed
the band to perform in Ron
Howard’s 1999 film EdTV.
Stroke 9’s major debut Nasty
Little Thoughts was released at
the end of 1999, but still remains
in heavy rotation at modem rock
stations across the United States.
The band’s music includes el
ements of rock, pop, folk and
even reggae. Its latest single,
“Kick Some Ass,” can be heard
regularly on 93.5.
PUDDLE OF MUDD
When lead singer Wesley
Scantlin approached Fred Durst,
lead vocalist of Limp Bizkit, with
Puddle of Mudd’s demo tape, pa
tience was the last thing on his
mind.
Scantin’s assertiveness helped
the band sign with Durst’s new
label, Flawless Records.
Puddle of Mudd describes its
signature sound as “real emo
tional rock and roll music that’s
hardcore,” comparing it to punk
the newest blockbuster releases.
One of the more notable ad
vantages of Dutch Square is that
its concession stand has the
widest variety of snacks in town.
Besides the regular fare, it
also serves everything from dill
pickles the size of baked potatoes
to coffee at an internal coffee bar
to self-serve candy by the pound.
In the unlikely event you can’t
find anything to eat in the con
rock and “metal-billy.”
