Someone had taken the screws out of the gate’s aim. Estimated damage: $50. Reporting officer: C. Ettenger. ■ Malicious injury to private property, 100 S. Marion St. Sonya Patterson said someone damaged the passenger’s side mirror of her white Grand Am. Estimated damage is $200. Reporting officer: C. Wilkes. * ■ Operating an uninsured vehicle, beginner’s permit violation, corner of Rosewood Drive and South Marion Street. Reporting officer M. Gass saw Ronald Williams, 34, driving suspiciously in his 1988 Honda. When officer ran the plate number to the car, he discovered the plates didn’t belong to the vehicle. Williams was field booked and released. ■ Larceny of htbcap. Pendleton Street garage. USC student Donna Jordan said someone removed the right rear hubcap off her 1994 Toyota Camry. Estimated value: $70. Reporting officer: J. Coaxum. ■ Telecommunications fraud, Computer Service annex. USC employee Nichole Castater said someone has been chaiging telephone calls to her fax number by unknown means since September. ■ Accidental damage (flooding), Gambrell Hall. Reporting officer C. Firebaugh responded to reports that a large amount of water was on the floor near the loading dock. Ij was found to be coming from a mechanical room, and maintenance was notified. Sunday, Feb. 25 ■ Suspicious activity. USC student Priyanka Gupta said a male has been repeatedly following her around, usually at a distance. Reporting officer: D. Friels. Columbia Monday, Feb. 26 ■ Accidental shooting, 600 Blanding St. Reporting officer W. Bales responded to the accidental shooting of a minor. No other information was released in the report. ■ Assault and battery, 1003 Elmwood Ave. Willie Rostick, 57, said he was in a verbal altercation with another man when the man picked up a razor blade and cut him on the left side of his chin. ■ Simple assault, 3301 Harden St. Precious McKune, 20, said that while she was waiting for the bus, a woman approached her and the two began to argue. The woman pulled a jack handle out and struck her with it. McKune was treated -1 and released from Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Reporting officer: N. Jones. ■ Accidental shooting, 712 Juniper St. Marian Whitaker said Carman Greenfree called her on the phone and said she was badly injured and needed to come home. When police arrived, they found Greenfree lying on a couch with a gunshot wound to the thigh. She was transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Reporting officer: W. Jones. ■ Meter tampering, 1700 Sumter St. William Padden, 41, called police and said someone had damaged city parking meter No. 734. Reporting officer: K. Battiste. ■ Larceny of moped, 1105 Darlington St. Sarah Rowton, 23, said someone entered her back yard and stole her moped. Tracks at the scene indicated it was loaded into the back of a truck or car. Estimated value of the moped; $700. Reporting officer: W., Pigram. ■ Theft of cable, 3213 Quitman St. A Time Whmer Cable employee said a cable descrambler was found connected to a cable box. The descrambler allows for th<^ viewing of certain pay channels. The company employee claims the descrambler belongs to Yvette Roland Reporting officer D. Goodwin. ■ Information, 7725 Caughman St. J. D. Wilson called the police after her daughter came home and complained about the way she was treated by her bus driver. The Richland School District 1 bus driver yelled at the girl and said she would be written up and thrown off the bus if she didn’t “shut up and sit down.” Reporting officer: R.
