Engineering and High Tech Fair Gain Experience Through Co-op Andrea Campbell One of the first aspects employ ers look for when hiring a new graduate is relevant work experience. They want to hire students who have taken advan tage of opportunities to experience work related to their majors. This is true for students majoring in all fields. To enhance your job options following graduation and to give your self a much better understanding of your career goals, consider gaining rel evant work experience during your time as a student at USC. How can you gain this relevant work experience? The Career Center offers sever I al venues, but the way to gain the most extensive experience related to your major is through the Cooperative Education (co-op) program. What is co-op? Co-op is a collaborative effort between employers and USC to provide multi-semester, career-related work experience for qualified students while maintaining standing in their academic program. How do you qualify for co-op? If you have completed 30 or more semester hours at USC (15 hours for transfer students), have a cumula tive GPA of 2.5 or above, and are enrolled full-time, you can enroll to seek a co-op position related to your maior. How can you get involved? Discuss your interest with a . Career Center representative.
