How ever, a softer and even acoustical side of the mu sic can be seen in songs written by Caputo, whose influence has carried through to his current solo project and album Razzberry Mockery. Standout tracks include “Plexiglass Gate,” with its guitar-motor-chugging and deep metal roots, and “Here I Am, Here I Stay” with its anthem screaming chorus. Also included is the LOA sig nature-sounding “Depression” and a softer track, entitled “Drowning,” both of which are written by Roberts and carry LOA’s universal theme. In addition, LOA does a tremendous job cov ering the most unlikely of songs for a metal band to play, including “Tangerine” by Led Zeppelin and “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley. But the best covers are two songs that should exhilarate any die hard fan of heavy metal, “March of the S.O.D and “Sgt. ‘D’ and the S.O.Dby the Stormtroop ers of Death. All of the songs on the album were written by the original lineup of LOA prior to Caputo’s de parture in 1997. According to Chad Voters, heavy metal music insider, the more recent pairing with Crane didn’t produce any recordings and disinte grated because the band felt that they weren’t the same without Caputo. However, LOA was still able to produce an excellent album, and this album is evidence of that. It wouldn’t surprise me if it soon became another sought-after collectible. So listen to me now: If you still don’t know who LOA are, find out. If you don’t have this al bum buy it, you’ll be glad you did. And after you listen to it and love it, buy their other albums and be on the lookout for the upcoming release of an unplugged show.
