Now you ask: Kyle, what can we do to reverse this disgusting trend? As much as I’d like to, we can’t riot the streets. Petitions won’t work, and marching around with big protest signs is too boring. The only way I sed to stop corporate America from conquering sports is to stop watching sports altogether. We have to stop buy ing tickets, stop ordering pay-per-view, and stop purchasing team merchan dise. But let’s be realistic: That’s out of the question. As much as I hate its •progress, I will always love sports, and I will always watch it. Even if I have to witness the www.Yahoo.com Bowl, I’ll still watch college football. Even if my favorite team is playing at Pig gly-Wiggly Field, I will go see them play. And even if my team is spon sored by Ex-Lax, I will still buy a jer sey. Sports fans like me tragically have a lot in common with abused wives. No matter how much you mistreat us, we still can’t let go. It’s the com mon fan’s paradox, and it’s something we have to get used to. Is it too late to start saving up for my own stadium? Kyle Almond is a freshman journal ism major.
