South Carolina sent six athletes to the
USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships,
held last weekend in New Orleans, La.
Crystal Brownlee placed Fifth in the
women's shot put with a toss of 54' 10 3/4.
Brownlee, a five-time SEC Champion, was
eighth at the NCAA Championships in Buffalo,
N.Y.
Erin Narzinski placed eighth overall in
the heptathlon with a score of 5,294 points.
Narzinski placed second as a collegiate. She

Kylene Nixon, a rising sophomore, placed
11th in the pole vault at the championships
with a height of 12' 1172. She placed sixth at

Poway, Calif., native will be competing in
the 1998 Junior Nationals next week.
Ryan Harrison competed in the discus
throw, but failed to make the finals.
Bert Sorin was 10th in the hammer throw
with a toss of 209'11. As a collegiate, Sorin
placed fifth. He was also honored as an AilAmerican
at the NCAA Championships.
Freshman Terrence Trammell finished
ninth in the 110m hurdles, posting a time ol
13.45. Trammell just missed making the finals.
He was second as a collegiate. Trammell
was second in the 110m hurdles with a time
of 13.41 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
