8 Carolina disappo to some | new world order | I'm not going into any semi-poetic monologue about how my weekend wait as it pertains to Saturday's debacle. To make a long story short, I spent most of the weekend at the liquor store lamenting over it. Instead, it's time for the experiment in nastiness called Singletonian philosophy, and Fm going directly into the induction ceremony for the Singletonian Hall of Shame with the TJ Suck" Award. This weeks award is a three-parter. The first goes to our football team, which seems to make All-Americans out of the other team's players. It looks as if the team was preparing for basketball season instead of a possible bowl game. rm n 1 i i 11 ine uamecocKs naa me game under control until the final two minutes of the first half, when Troy Hambrick fumbled, and clemson scored a late touchdown off the turnover. The Gamecocks just quit after that play, even though the team was still up when it came out of the tunnel for the second half. Nealon Greene looked similar to Drew Bledsoe against Carolina instead of the horrible quarterback he actually is. The second part goes to Brad Scott, who will never win any award I give out for testicular fortitude. A team is a reflection of its coach, and from the way our team came out and played, it shows this is maybe the third-best team in South Carolina. The Gamecocks showed no heart in the second half, and Scott proved how gutless he is with the same wonderfully conservative play calling that got this team into trouble at the beginning of the season. Sparky Woods may have been the worst coach in USC's history, but at least he had guts, which is one thing that left Scott before the season started. i lAnno i t Co He. The final part of this award goes to myself for believing my beloved Gamecocks could break the home jinx and beat clemson. Sometimes, I get carried away because I support the team so much. However, I was so disgusted by Saturday's performance I did the one thing I thought I would never do at a football game: I left early because I couldn't stomach the horrible display of football I saw. This was just an ugly game played by a gutless team with a gutless coach. Talk about the blind leading the blind. The Gamecocks didn't want this game or the right to go to a bowl. The team didn't deserve those luxuries. I've made a lot of comments regarding fair-weather fans, but how can the fans stand behind this team when the team doesn't stand behind each other? This is a team and a coach that are complacent with being mediocre. Until some things change, expect to see this for a few years to come. At least we have more time to watch our basketball team play. tcywjv^ SJ-Coi uricincj the openin wo-room Jacuzzi 2.
