The show starts tonight and runs :hrough Nov. 23 in USC's Drayton Hall. ' Curtain times are 8 p.m. Tuesday dirough Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, rickets cost $10 for the general public, $8 For senior citizens, military and USC faculty and staff, and $6 for students. "This is a rare accomplishment," Artis ;ic Director Jim O'Connor said. "It took a iot of behind-the-scenes maneuvering to pull it off." According to the William Morris \gency, the closest the national touring show will get to South Carolina is Washington, D.C., or St. Petersburg, Fla. "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" t invites people to wonder what surprises the 21st century will offer by looking back at what the 20th century ushered in, O'Connor said. Set oh a Paris night in 1904, the play is about Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, two of the 20th century's most brilliant men, who meet by chance in a bar called the Lapin Agile. It's a little more than a year or two before each will revolutionize the way people will see the world. But, on this night, they're not so different from other young men in a bar?bustling with self-confidence and youthftd lust and K . Vlbert Einstein and Pablo Picasso talk Vgile. WMBWg presents new f eve Martin I inspired by the possibilities of the new century. Along with a motley selection of other barflies, and one surprise guest, they flirt with the women, argue, dance, laugh, paint and puncture the egos of intellectuals everywhere. Conflict is inevitable, though, as Einstein's transcendental logic and Picasso's mercurial graphic brilliance collide in the ultimate intellectual arm wrestle. The thrusts and parries of their witty duel become a towering fusion of ideas, giving the audience a sense they are witnessing B how the future will be changed by these two colossal figures. But, the presence of another young visitor at the bar shows that, in the 20th century, even the genius of an Einstein or a Picasso may be dwarfed. "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" won the I Outstanding Off-Broadway Play award last year from the Outer Critics Circle. Particularly interesting are the responses to phony ads placed in the newspaper by Brennan and Kamal. When the unsuspecting victim calls to reply to what he or she thinks is a legitimate ad, the Boys go on the attack, leaving the caller thoroughly confused and more than a little shaken up. Jerky Boys 3 introduced this concept, and on this CD, callers respond to bogus ads for "retro movie casting" and gameshow tryouts. The audacity of the Jerky Boys makes for some hilarious calls. Also included on this CD is "Jerk Baby Jerk," the Boys' first musical endeavor. "Jerk" is a stereotypical dance track with clips of past calls mixed in and is a lot of fun, if not entirely out of place. While Jerky Boys 4 is good, it does not produce the same side-splitting results past albums did, particularly the debut. But, on the whole, this release has enough bright spots to warrant a place on your CD rack. So listen to it, tough guy! iiunniMimiBiiu | F* ' Dr. | I ? i | | *<*>' I ee | -v?)lue | cfnnfe 1 rages.
