Interested students met with the
Elections Commission Tuesday afternoon
to begin the month-long elections process.
The 4:30 p.m. informal meeting was
designed to introduce students to the
Elections Commission members and
learn what is involved in campaigning
and the election itself.
Although the commission had limited
time to advertise the meeting, Elections
Commissioner Manisha Shroff said she
was pleased with the student interest.
"We were excited about the turnout.
It was a lot better than what we expected,"
Shroff said.
Undergraduate and graduate students
will vote Feb. 20 in the general election,

This year, the Internal Revenue
Service will continue efforts to drastically
reduce the mountain of paperwork created
by tax filings each year.
The system the IRS hopes will make
this possible is the Telefile system.
Using Telefile, tax respondents fill
out a simple worksheet, then call a
government 800-number and punch in
the numbers on their worksheet.
The Telefile tax package, with its
worksheet, will be sent to over 300,000
homes in South Carolina this year,
according to a news release by the
Department of the Treasury, Internal
Revenue Service,. More than 600,000
homes in North Carolina will also receive
