A TV r_.. 1 /i 1 ime jor i As the school year comes to a close, The Gamecock looks back at those events that shaped your fall and spring semesters.This year was characterized by a variety of events that brought local and national attention to USC. Among the events were the controversy surrounding the student radio station and the robbery of a local bank that brought F.B.I. agents to the Horseshoe.USC also gained media attention as the runners of the U.S. Women's Olympic Marathon trials ran through the campus. Students helped Columbia DreDare for the marathon and later showed their support for the runners. Tragic events in Columbia left students shocked when a local barber was shot to death. On the campus level, students celebrated their own successes and failures over the year. Steve Taneyhill ended his career as USCs quarterback with a disappointing loss to Clemson. Her ^ % Fwr When senior Trey Lofton, |F left, resigned as station manager of WUSC-FM 90.5, the station was shut down, and the wave of >.V controversy began. After being fired, members of the station's former executive board held a , press conference to explain : '-V'? inHfr their anger over the situation and to protest their dismissal, which they said was a violation of thee student rights.
