Wei c Q M I Enter the realm of muckrakers and mischief with your congenial tabloid rag. I know all of you who are reading this tabloid are wondering "What the heck is this?' Well, this is the solution to the lack of revenue that the Garnet and Black Quarterly amassed over the nast semester This is the new snnnlement tn the Garnet and Black Quarterly. This issue is a test-run issue that will hopefully sell well with the general public. So, now you're asking, why is this called The Void and, furthermore, is there a definitive difference between the tabloid and the magazine (besides size)? Well, to answer your first question, this tabloid is called The Void because of the "void" in money that was produced to make a tabloid rather than a magazine. It is also a "void" because of the lack of a magazine this semester. Finally, we call this The Void because of our disgruntled comrades, the former executive board at WUSC, of whom, in Student Media's ultimate u/icHnm \uprA cummarilv Hicmicc^H fmm flip VkkVklllUlV TIIJUVII1, " V1V JU1111I1UI11J UlJilUJJVU 1IV1I1 IUW station on erroneous charges that turned out to be bogus. Hence, there is a void caused by the emptiness that these false charges caused as well as the "void" that the artistic format of WUSC has left in our hearts. To answer your other question, yes, this is a different format from the Garnet and Black Quarterly. Instead of the past issues being much like the Gamecock magazine, we now have claimed a definitive format for own forum. Yes, this marks the end of the Hell-on-Earth era, as I, Eli Gabriel Sanchez, also end a four-year tenure in the magazine's publication. So yes, I've survived three Portfolio editors, three GBQ editors, and the machinations of the "pseudo-political" factions that permeate Student Media. And, unlike The Gamecock of this semester, the GBQ practices journalistic integrity. We don't quote ourselves about things we know nothing about (See WUSC articles, all issues). Finally, I've survived the musing of our Faculty Advisor who is still under the illusion, despite the fact that she was there when I was named editor, that Cortney Owings is editor, not me; she received an award for her outstanding efforts as editor-in-chief.
