It's no longer characteristic of one particular type of person ? body piercing is pretty much for anyone. For those of you who are scared to go beyond the holes in your ears, or for those of you who want different piercings but aren't really sure what you're getting into, keep reading. Nick Brock, freshman computer science major, recently had his right eyebrow pierced by a friend, and this is how it works. The piercer takes a clamp with a hole in it, pulls the eyebrow away from the face, and sticks a needle (which he sterilized) through the hole, which goes through the skin of the eyebrow. While the needle is in the skin, he puts the ring in after it then takes the clamp out, and it's done. "It didn't hurt at all," Brock said. "It felt like a shot from a doctor. It did bleed a lot, though." Not that Brock has been totally problem free. Skin knots up around the hole sometimes, but "it doesn't bother you at all," he said. He cleans it twice a day with a gel made of alcohol and aloe vera. His friends thought it was either "real cool" or "real stupid. As for Brock himself, I thought it would look cool, and it does," he said. For girls, the most common piercings, besides the ears, are the nose and the bellybutton. Zaida Jimenez, freshman chemistry major, pierced her nose herself with a safety pin. She burnt the tip of it for sterilization and dipped it in alcohol. With her nose numbed by ice, she stuck the safety pin through to make the hole, then put the stud in. She likes it because "it's different, it's cool, and it's a good conversation starter. That's part of the way I met a lot of people," she said.
