As a part of the State Fairgrounds beautification project, the chain-link fence surrounding the grounds was removed, and trees were planted around the perimeter, according to Brenda Brooks, special events coordinator for the State Fairgrounds. "We put up 65 trees, everything from crepe myrtles to live oaks and put up a wrought-iron fence," Brooks said. The funds for the beautification project came out of revenues from the fair, Brooks said. The beautification project has not caused major changes in parking on DREAMS continued from page 3 of years. "The only thing we lost was 10 spaces because of the trees," said Dawn Bailey, administrative assistant for the Gamecock Club. She said sane parking spaces have been moved to spots the Gamecock Club is leasing from ETV, and 30 Gamecock Club spots had to be moved because of the elevators being built into the stadium. "We were able to get NationsBank parking spaces that we can use until 1998," Bailey said. The spaces that have been moved belong to gameday management personnel. Gamecock Club members receive a parking space with at least a $350 membership. The fairgrounds have 8,000 spots. have MORE points to win the game.) Well, there you have it, a miniscouting report for the upcoming season. What's missing? Well, a bowl game's missing of course, but we'll leave that one for you to decide. It wouldn't be fair to the team to predict "USC to Play in Sugar Bowl," nor would it be too nice to predict, "USC to Play in Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl," either; however, after an 0-2 start, it might not be all that bad for Carolina to play for the Golden Weedeater Trophy. The point is, we can't promise that Carolina will win the rest of their games. You all should know that by now. Nor can we say that they'll lose the rest of their games. But you can be assured that, this season, witnessing the metamorphosis of this football program will indeed be a thrill. Most agree that what's in store for the USC athletics in the future is possible greatness. But this is this year, and patience is a virtue. And remember, the excitement has yet to begin.
