quarterback Steve Taneyhill and a teammate
have agreed to pay for furniture
damaged in a hotel room this past weekend.
Taneyhill and John Healy were staying
at a Day's Inn in downtown
Charleston Saturday night, and the pahhave
agreed to pay $75 for a broken chair,

The Medical University of South Carolina
has been fielding tough questions
about a proposed partnership with a local
private hospital.
A crowd of200 gathered Monday as
lawmakers and representatives of other
hospitals criticized the proposed partnership
between MUSC and for-profit
Trident Regional Health Systems.
"Is this merger the proper use of state
taxpayer money?" asked attorney Susan
Smythe, a board member of Roper
Health Systems, a competing hospital
system. "The taxpayers are being asked
to underwrite the demise of their health

Tharp said Taneyhill was at the hotel
with a group of USC students, most
of whom were not athletes. It was not
immediately clear who was responsible
for damaging the furniture. Tharp said
the broken chair was not in Taneyhill's
room.
