Last week I witnessed one of th
most remarkable events in my yeai
at Carolina-Homecoming Week.
The 1994 Homecoming Con

that captured the spirit and excifc

the key theme I recognized in all i

This kind of participation
shows that the entire Carolina comie

In past years the Homecoming

j_ Homecoming Commissioners Stephen

Homecoming into an event that all

^ and be a part of. I hope in the next
several years USC's Homecoming
activities can grow into events like
those at Clemson University and
^ the University of Florida where
Homecoming is looked upon as a
major campus event
)n Another Homecoming activity
that was outstanding was the pain

Last week showed that if the entire

Lack of column
This semester has not been a satisfying one for
me in a professional sense. We are almost halfway
to Thanksgiving, and no one has written in to complain
about the content of my columns or my political
leanings.
What's the matter with you people? How do you
expect me to perform my job each Monday without
the feedback I receive from your constant verbal
abuse? Fm only human, you know.
Now, I know that some of you in our audience
are saying, Tat, we love your column! Maybe eveiyone
else just enjoys what you are doing."
Well, that's just not so. Every Monday, I get
pulled aside in the hallways and am offered suggestions
about how I can improve my column. As a
public service, I will use some of this space to answer
the questions most frequently asked of me:
1. Why don't you bash other Gamecock columnists?
That's what "Letters to the Editor" are for. Have
a look at it.
2. Why don't you bash former Gamecock editor
Tige Watts, who displayed his ignorance (again) on
the editorial page of Wednesday's paper?
Two reasons. First, I just don't have enough
space to do it properly. Second, I refuse to ridicule
those who are different than I am just because of

Dear readers, today I am here to talk to you
about the disturbing decline of family values in this
nation and to share my personal beliefs about how
this country should be run. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! (Sorry,
I knew I couldn't say that and keep a straight
face)
Actually Fm going to talk about a matter of grave
importance: Fm bored. Now I know what you are
thinking, "What the hell do I care if this cretin is
bored?" Let us not be too hasty, my friends, because
this same boredom that is afflicting me at the moment
will eventually trickle down right into your
laps (and if you've ever had anything trickle into
your lap, you know how unpleasant that can be).

boredom that penetrates to the very core of your
being. It's kind of similar to losing the marbles to
your "Hungry Hungry Hippos" game. So let's nip
this in the bud, shall we? In my opinion, the problem
stems from the fact that there is an insufficient
amount of "adventure" on this campus. So as gungho,
take-charge people, we must create our own "adventure."
I propose a scavenger hunt through the wreckage
of University Terrace. The first person to find
I all of the items (which I will list un momento) and
i bring them up to the Gamecock offices in a trash
bag with cinch-sak drawstrings wins THE BIG
PRIZE! (which I have yet to pick up from Cromer's

the title of "Exalted Scavenger": A razor sharp piece
of glass larger than your head; one of those seashell
toilet seats; a copy of the Koran; one of those red
doohickeys with the thingamajig that looks like a
