MTV does Show discusses hot topics for voung adults, hosted by Christian Slater. RACHEL WILDER Staff Writer Purchasing condoms, first sexual experiences, secondary virginity and other topics were covered in "Smart Sex" which aired Tuesday night on MTV. Hosted by Christian Slater, the one-hour program covered a lot of the issues concerning STDs and ATTiS tViat vonncr ortnl+o ora facing in the 90s. The program presented a variety of viewpoints from whites, blacks and Hispanics from rural and urban areas all across the country. "Smart Sex" gave a behind-the-scenes look at young people's sexual choices and showed some of their doubts, fears and concerns about sex. Unlike some programs about AIDS, "Smart Sex" was not preachy, and its message was left to the interpretation of the viewer. Slater said, "This program isn't meant to scare you. It's a program about relationships, about what people like you are doing and not doing. This is a story from the frontline, the line we're all on," Slater said. I feel the people on the show brought up a lot of good points about practicing safe sex. Members Cary Pierce and Jack O'Neal are really sound and accompany each other well ( vith their guitars. Seemingly at home, Jackopierce put on a food show, most of the time just using acoustic juitars and an occasional harmonica.
