Editor If you like the Stones, and you didn't go, you're probably sick of everyone talking about Sunday's Rolling Stones concert at Williams-Brice Stadium. ? m With fireworks heard all the way to Aiken, even those that didn't attend have something to talk about, which is exactly what the Stones intended. The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge show is the " tour to end all tours--a spectacular show of lights, Hif y , video, music and audience participation that more Hi / than makes up for the once in a decade appearance Hf Jt / the band puts in. Young and old (and I do mean old) rocked with Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ron to a va- HjmL riety of songs spanning their long list of hits, from "Jumping Jack Flash" to Voodoo Lounge's "Love Is Strong." It's hard to review the concert of a band as legendary as the Stones. The mere fact I was within 50 feet of Mick Jagger is enough to send me gushing. However, the music sounded great. Anyone who says Keith Richard's playing has gotten worse is just jealous, and Mick can still belt out those tunes. Although I haven't heard anything off the new album I could recognize (during those parts of the show I drunk in the visuals instead), the boys had their act down. I guess one thing that upset me (for about five c*V*r,j? Watts> Ml' seconds) was that they didn't play many of their their new alb older hits. Being that their trademark "Sympathy for the Devil" is one of my favorite songs, you'd think cially if. they'd have at least played it as an encore. Instead The music was p they kept up with the mix of old and new, so only props I've seen sinci half of their set consisted of songs like "Beast of Bur- theme, of course, w< den," "Honky Tonk Woman," the crowd mover "Start voodoo lounge, you i Me Up," and what drove the audience crazy at the My guess is vooc beginning of the set, "Satisfaction." It would have or somewhere unhc been nice, however, to hear stuff like "She's So Cold," ing amongst bailor "Ruby Tuesday," 'Taint It Black," or even "Under bones through their My Thumb," because it was one of the only chances ears and figures we; 111 ever get to see them live.
