Esqueda, playing No. 4 singles, downed the Tigers' Teofilo 6-4, 6-1. Bommelje took the first set 6-1 and had a chance to take the second in a tie-breaker. But Auburn's Loiaza won the tie-breaker and second set, and then won the third set and match 6-3. Junior Ben Cook lost the first set 3-6 but rallied to give himself a chance by winning the second set in a tie-breaker 7-6. However, Auburn's Billy Petrocco won the third set to clinch the team match 6-4. The loss assured the Gamecocks of the eighth seed in the SEC Tournament beginning Thursday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
